Fun in the Sun

Yesterday we went to a white sandy beach and chased the waves.
I grew up going to the ocean. I think I have a childhood crush.  I'm always pleasantly surprised to remember how much I love waves and the ocean.  There is something about waves that makes me want to be in them.  The rhythmic rocking at the shore makes my soul feel at peace and a little deeper, the churning force makes my heart spark with excitement.

Thanks to my sister Kathryn and her husband I was able to get my summer wave fix at Seven Peaks.  They had some extra passes so our family got to tag along for a day of fun.  The kids had such a great time that Mason continues to thank me for taking him every time his face is within a few feet of mine.

We probably spent at least an hour in the lazy river and another hour in the wave pool (we were there from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.).  I body surfed with the kids and you couldn't wipe the smile off my face while I watched Mason exude pure joy.

Colin was strutting his stuff and impressing the ladies (including this mother of two whose bikini body was making me incredible envious).  I would occasionally catch Colin bobbing around and dancing to the music.  It never lasted long enough to catch on video, but it was adorable!
Kate and Adam loved the slides and Kate even braved Thunder Gorge (used to be the Roller Coaster)...twice.  Shem was a thrill seeker too, but loved the lazy river best.

I can't remember a day in the recent past when I smiled and laughed so much.  While I was chatting with Kathryn she said she had wished she had an extra million and could afford to send me on a real trip to Hawaii.  She got me closer there than she realized.  I wouldn't need a trip to Hawaii if I could just have more days like that.
