Home Sweet Home

We finally made it home to Utah (in the right time period) and what an adventure we have had zig-zagging across the globe.

We spent our last two days of summer getting ourselves physically ready for school.

On Monday morning we got together with our Summer Fun friends and learned a little about our bodies. Val taught the kids about the different body systems using this cute book and then the kids built the different body systems out of food and candy.

We used things like pretzels and spaghetti noodles for bones, licorice for muscles, dried apples for skin, a taffy for a stomach, a skittle for the heart, fruit loops for intestines, and candy eggs for kidneys.

Then we did a service project for Primary Children's Medical Center. The hospital uses these medical play dolls for patient education and comfort. The kids get to dress them up in hospital gowns and decorate them.

A local quilting shop, Whimsy Cottage, donated the muslin. The kids helped stuff 19 dolls that we delivered to the hospital later that afternoon.

Today was spent shopping for school clothes (Thank You DI!) and getting hair cuts. We checked to see how much each child had grown in the last year.
Then it was time for baths, school blessings, and off to bed.

My best friend Emilie called tonight to congratulate me. I survived summer, or as she said it - I thrived, not just survived.  Thanks for coming along for all our summer memories!

Tobi- your friend got it right- you did thrive this summer, it was a blast. Thanks for keeping me going, and lending a hand with the kids on all the fun, fabulous field trips. Where do you want to go next year?!?
