She got special pancakes for breakfast, donuts at schools, and a fragrant delivery from Dad. After opening gifts we spent the evening at Planet Play for pizza and games.

A few days later she hosted a movie themed birthday party. She invited about 10 friends for the production and premier of "Kate's Backwards Birthday."
The girls arrived for pizza and soda. They decorated their name cards and then we started casting for our backwards movie.
This party was inspired by the videos I used to make with my siblings when we were kids. We would video tape different activities and then play them in reverse. I prepared a board with our scene list and the girls each chose a scene to participate in (along with the full cast scenes).
My sister Cyndi was on hand to man camera two (and later for all the editing expertise). Making the film was just as fun as it was for me as a kid. (I even overheard several exclamations that this was the best party ever!)
Cyndi did her magic in iMovie while we opened presents, ate cake, and played night games. The girls were so fun and they couldn't wait to watch the premier later that night! With some popcorn and Red Vines we overcame a few computer glitches and watched the most fun birthday video ever!
Happy Birthday, Kate! I love you and your flair of creativity and expression, your kind and tender heart, and your mature understanding of some of life's most important eternal concepts. Love you Kate-E-Lady!
