Lost at Sea

Sorry I haven't been around for a few days.  We've been lost at sea, but had great adventures along the way.

My children turned into fish.  We have been doing swimming lessons this week and it finally feels like they are paying off for Kate and Adam.  On Saturday we went swimming as a family to the Cottonwood Height Rec Center and Kate and Adam both jumped off the high diving board.  It was amazing!  Mason finally put his whole head under the water and did a little paddle and Colin is getting more comfortable every day, even trying to do "big arms" along the top of the water.

Continuing on our ocean journey, we got close up to all kinds of ocean animals.  Our first encounter was very "sweet."

The kids made ocean scenes out of gummy candies and fruit snacks.  I love Adam's sunken ship surrounded by sharks.  Kate made the East Australian Current with all the sea turtles that came in her Finding Nemo fruit snack pack.

We did some oceanic study along the way, reading about sharks then making a puzzle.  Adam wrote a report about sand tiger sharks and Kate did a report on dolphins.

The ocean creatures we found were both beautiful and dangerous.
Adam braved the sharks to swim with some friends and check out a sunken ship...
Kate got cozy with a sting ray...
Colin found Nemo...
And Mason explored the coral reef.
After a long week at sea we finally made it to Antarctica where we checked out the penguins.

Then I dragged my tired sailors home and put them all down for a nap.  I hope we can all regain our strength (and our land legs) because next week we'll be crossing the plains!
