K8

At the end of August Kate turned 8.  We were at Bear Lake for the weekend so we got to celebrate with Grandma Mona and Grandpa Dave.  Since we going to be out of town for the actual "B Day" we threw a party during the week (consequently the day before school started).  We decided on a Carnival Theme and delivered the admission tickets.

Guests arrived and enjoyed face painting, posing for pictures, and popcorn.

Thanks for the cut-out Em!
After a few corn dogs it was on to Carnival Games.  The girls had such a blast trying out the different games and collecting candy and prizes.

Next it was on to presents and cake...

...then a little lesson on making balloon animals.

And just like the summer had come to an end, the party was done.

We had such a wonderful time celebrating Kate this year.  She is a good, loyal friend.  She loves to make other people happy by making them little gifts.  She loves to dance and sing.

She finds beauty in everything and can't help taking things from the recycling and creating "useful" things like this alligator with fish in its mouth.
She loves to read and loves to share her ideas.  She is terribly silly and has a knack for getting her brothers going too.

She can be stubborn, distracted, and defiant, but her enthusiasm and creativity will take her far in life.  As my pediatrician once said, "Your children definitely won't be librarians."  She is my girl and I wouldn't give up the chance to dance with her in the kitchen, snuggle on the couch, or share a tasty treat.

Love you, Kate!
