Burned at the Stake

In July we went to The Spruces for our annual camping trip with Shem's brother Enoch and his wife Amy. One night as we were gathered around the fire I took the opportunity to tell a scary story.

 
There was once a wicked king named Noah. He and his evil priests were doing very evil things and God was not happy. Dun, dun, dun...

A man named Abinadi came and told the people they needed to repent. King Noah and his priests didn't like the things Adinadi had been saying and they threatened him that if he didn't change his story he was going to be killed.

Abinadi was bound in chains.

(Everyone that believed in Christ was also bound in chains...glow-in-the-dark chains.)

 After Abinadi was done sharing his message with King Noah and his priests he was burned alive.

Abinadi burned so quickly we didn't catch it on camera. It's probably better that way.

But the story doesn't end here. As he was burning Abinadi prophesied that Noah would also die in a similar fashion.

A short time later the Lamanites invaded the city of Nephi. King Noah told all the men to leave their wives and children and flee with him into the wilderness. When the men came to and decided they wanted to go back and either perish with their families or seek revenge, King Noah commanded them to stay. The men were angry with the king and killed him by burning him to death.

And the morale of this story? Don't burn prophets at the stake...and stay back from the fire pit!

The other morale? Roasted marshmallows will never be as yummy as squishy babies.
