Noah's Arky Arky

Last week was dedicated to Noah and his ark full of animals. 

On Monday we went to the high school to measure out the size of the ark. Noah’s Ark was 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high. A cubit was the length of a man’s arm from fingertips to elbow. That's 450 feet long (or 1 1/2 football fields), 75 feet wide (1/2 the width of the field), and 45 feet tall (15 feet taller than the goal post). The kiddos raced down the field (and halfway back) to see how long it would take to run the length of the ark. Colin even managed to mark his territory (we were less than a week into potty training and it was not going very well).

Later that day the kids each did a drawing of the ark.

 We gathered all the animals in the house and then they raced to fill up their arks with pairs of animals. Adam won by a hare.

They put together some adorable pairs (and a few interesting threesomes).

On Tuesday we went to the zoo to continue our animal gathering. We loved the new Rocky Shores area and even got a close up of the polar bear.

On Wednesday the forty days of rain began...at least it looked that way when we spent the afternoon at Cowabunga Bay.

On Thursday we did nothing...to signify the 150 days they waited on the ark for the water to recede. ;)

On Friday we met up with our Summer Fun friends and made tye dye shirts to symbolize the rainbow and God's promise to never flood the whole earth again.

I think Liam makes a darn cute rainbow, no?
